Where to stay in Chisinau – best hotels
Best mid-range hotels in Chisinau
Komilfo Hotel
If you’re travelling on a mid-range budget, check out Komilfo Hotel. This hotel receives consistently great reviews. Rates are affordable, and they all include breakfast.
If you’re visiting in summer, there’s a small outside area in the garden where you can sit down and relax.

From Komilfo Hotel, it only takes a few minutes on foot to reach Cathedral Square.
We stayed in an apartment very close to Komilfo Hotel and were happy with the location. However, it is not as close to the Valley of the Mills Park as some of the other hotels, so we have a second choice for you below if you prefer being a bit closer.
Check out Komilfo Hotel and its excellent reviews now!
City Park Hotel
City Park Hotel is, as the name suggests, located just next to the central park and Cathedral Square.
It’s a bit more expensive than Komilfo Hotel, but it has a perfect location and is located inside a beautiful old building. The rooms are equipped with everything you need, and the beds are comfortable.

You have the option to book a rate that includes breakfast, or book just the room and go out for breakfast. There are plenty of bakeries in the area where you can grab some typical Moldovan food.

Best luxury hotels in Chisinau
Gregory Boutique Hotel Chisinau
I have to admit, I’m a fan of beautifully decorated boutique hotels. We don’t get to stay at them often, but I believe they’re amongst the nicest luxury hotels out there.
The Gregory Boutique Hotel Chisinau, for example, stands out because of its stunning interior design. The rooms look charming, as if you’ve stepped into a centuries-old palace. Plus, as many guests point out, the staff is very friendly and helpful.

It has a great location, too, between the Triumphal Arch and the Valley of the Mills Park. You can reach the best things to do in Chisinau on foot from here.
The only downside is that while it’s rated as a five-star hotel, it doesn’t have a spa area. But don’t worry, if that’s important to you, it’s easy to find alternatives in Chisinau.
Check out the Gregory Boutique Hotel now!
Nobil Luxury Boutique Hotel
If you want to stay in a luxury hotel with a spa, check out the Nobil Luxury Boutique Hotel. This hotel is all about classic luxury, with marble floors and grand chandeliers.

The building itself is not as nice as the Gregory Boutique Hotel we mentioned above, but the interior makes up for it. Plus, the Nobil Hotel has a large spa with a gym, a steam bath, and a beauty salon. You can also get a massage here.
All rates include breakfast. Go and book your stay now.
Best budget hotels in Chisinau
The line blurs easily between many of the mid-range and budget hotels. Depending on where you travel, you can find good deals in some of the mid-range hotels, which bring the prices down to less than what you’d normally pay at a budget hotel.
Nevertheless, we have done our best to find some budget options in Chisinau. We also list some hostels below, if you are travelling on a truly low budget.
Hotel Villa Natali
Hotel Villa Natali is located next to the Valley of the Mills Park. If you follow the street from here, you will arrive directly at the Cascade Stairs. You’re also close to the National Museum of Ethnography, which was a highlight of our trip to Chisinau and which we recommend to everyone.

Unfortunately, that means that you have to walk a bit longer to get to the Central Market, but you can always take one of the many buses that travel down the main boulevard.
The prices here are usually affordable, and the rooms are clean and spacious.

Bazar Motel
The Bazar Motel is located in a quiet courtyard not far away from the Chisinau Central Market and the central bus station.

That means it’s perfect if you want to explore other locations in the country, or if you want to go on a day trip to Transnistria.
The rooms are clean and receive great reviews, and the prices are usually lower than for other hotels closer to Cathedral Park. The only downside is that the location might be a bit hard to find, so ask the staff to give you a detailed description up front.

Where to stay in Chisinau – best aparthotels
Sometimes, you don’t want to stay in a hotel but prefer an apartment. We get it. We often rent apartments ourselves, as they have plenty of advantages. You can store food in the fridge, prepare meals, and you’ve got more space in general.
In fact, we stayed in a small apartment ourselves when we visited Chisinau.
If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, we’ve found some great aparthotels for you to check out.
StarRent Apart-Hotel
If you’re looking for an apartment with a fully equipped kitchen and a washing machine, check out StarRent Apart-Hotel. This hotel offers multiple apartments with lots of amenities.
As mentioned above, we are big fans of having a fully equipped kitchen. It’s very convenient for preparing breakfast or throwing together a quick dinner when we don’t want to go out. I am also glad every time I have a washing machine, as that means I can pack light for longer trips and do laundry along the way.
The hotel is located close to the central market and the central bus station, and there are lots of restaurants nearby in case you do decide to go out.
Apartments Chisinau
Apartments Chisinau offers multiple apartments, all of them equipped with a kitchenette and a washing machine.
The location is close to the StarRent Apart-Hotel, although it’s a little bit further away from the city centre. If you want to get to Cathedral Park from here, your best bet is to take one of the many city buses that run down the central boulevard.
The apartments are clean, and the owner is friendly. Plus, they advertise that they offer 24-hour check-in, perfect for late-night arrivals, and luggage storage.

Where to stay in Chisinau – best hostels
Hostel Amazing Ionika
Hostel Amazing Ionika is one of the best-rated hostels in Chisinau. It’s no surprise because it has a perfect location between the Cathedral and the Valley of the Mills Park.
If you stay here, you can reach all of Chisinau’s sights on foot.

The hostel offers private rooms and dorms, and they’re described as clean in the reviews. If you decide to stay in a dorm, you get a locker where you can leave your things, so you don’t have to worry about safety. The owner is very friendly and helpful, and can arrange tours if you want to see more of the country.
The only downside is that you need to pay in cash. It can be in a foreign currency, but it cannot be by card. You also need to give a deposit of 100 Lei for the locker and free towel, so make sure to bring enough cash.
Friends Hostel
If you want to stay in a hostel but not at Amazing Ionika, check out Friends Hostel. It still receives decent reviews, and you have the option to pay by card, so you don’t need to worry about taking cash.
The location is great, close to all sights and to the main avenue. From here, you can easily catch a bus if you want to go anywhere. It’s also not too far from the Alexander Pushkin House Museum, which I think is one of the coolest sights in Chisinau.

Plus, the beds are comfortable. Someone even said in their review that they found the beds more comfortable than theirs at home!
Practical information
How to get to Chisinau

The easiest way to get to Chisinau is by plane. Moldova’s capital is connected by direct flights from many major European cities. If you’re coming from farther away, you’ll likely have to transit through one of them, but it’s not difficult to find connections.
If you’re already in Romania, you have more options for reaching Moldova. You can either arrive by train or by bus. There’s even a sleeper train that goes directly from Bucharest to Chisinau.
Getting around Chisinau
No matter where you stay in Chisinau, you need to find a way to get around between the city’s attractions.
The easiest way is to walk. We walked everywhere and found the city centre of Chisinau quite compact.

If you get tired, you can hop on one of the many buses that connect the city’s different neighbourhoods. Most of the bus lines go down the central boulevard, so that’s a good starting point if you’re looking for buses.
You can also find the connections on Google Maps, which is very helpful to figure out which line exactly to take.
Best time to visit Chisinau

You can visit Chisinau all year long. We came in March, at the end of winter and beginning of spring, and found that it was a great time to visit. We still saw some snow in Transnistria, but the weather was already warming up, and we had plenty of sunshine.
July and August are high season, because that’s when everyone in Europe is on summer holidays. If you’re looking for affordable accommodation, travel either in spring or autumn. Temperatures are nice, and there are fewer tourists.
There you have it, the best places to stay in Chisinau. They all have advantages and disadvantages.
For us, staying in an apartment turned out much cheaper than renting a hotel room. That depends on the season, though, so make sure to compare and shop around for a bit. We usually search for accommodation on booking.com, as they have a wide selection of places to stay at.
