Budget

One type of post we both find very useful is budget posts. When trying to figure out how much money we need to save for a trip, it’s helpful to see how much other travellers have spent. That’s also why we keep a detailed record of our expenses – we want to know how expensive different countries are.

The same applied when we went to the Baltics. We wrote down every single cent we spent. And now we’d like to share this budget with you. Hopefully, it will help you plan your own trip.

We’ll also be sharing lots of great advice on how to save money, so you don’t have to break your bank for travelling to the Baltics.…

Singapore

Singapore is a fantastic place to visit. This ultra-modern city has a mix of cultures that can’t be found in many places in the World. Chinese, Indian, Malaysian… everything blends in the city-state melting pot. And the food is no exception! Eating in Singapore means enjoying the cuisine of all kind of countries, with its own unique local specialities. But, did you know Singapore is also the city with the cheapest Michelin Star Restaurants in the World?…

Ecuador

The Galapagos Islands are known for being one of the most expensive destinations in the world.

If you google them, you will find beautiful cruise ships that take you around the archipelago for thousands and thousands of dollars. You will see luxury resorts and tours promising you the best experience – if only you pay enough. The islands have the reputation of being expensive, and it is possible to spend a small fortune coming here.

Yet, it is also possible to experience the beautiful nature and wildlife without blowing your budget. While the Galapagos Islands will never be the cheapest destination in the world, I have travelled here for less than 60$ a day. This budget included a double room with a private bathroom, two excursions and lots of awesome wildlife encounters that I wouldn’t want to miss.…

Travel Advice

One of the main questions I had when planning a trip around the world was how much it was going to cost. I knew I wanted to travel for around a year, and then spent hours trying to figure out how much money I would need.

Many articles I found online seemed to be about how to make your trip as cheap as possible. While that was helpful, I knew I didn’t want to try to travel the world on less than $10 a day.

I had already picked a few places to go to and spent a long time trying to make my itinerary work for as little money as possible. At the same time, I knew I wanted to visit expensive destinations like Easter Island, Patagonia and Galapagos Island.…

French Polynesia

“Do you have any suggestions on what to do tomorrow?”

The guy at the tourist information looked at me with wide eyes. “Tomorrow? But tomorrow is Sunday. Everything is closed.”

My last days in Papeete, the capital of French Polynesia, did not sound very promising. I had thought of taking a bus around the island of Tahiti, but as I soon learned, busses didn’t operate on Sunday either. Yet, despite everything being closed, I ended up having a surprisingly good time.

Tahiti can be very expensive. If, like me, you’re conscious about your budget and do not want to rent a car or join an expensive tour, here are some suggestions on what to do.…

Australia

While Australia is popular with backpackers, it is also one of the most expensive countries that budget travellers go to. Nowhere else have I seen my money vanish so quickly. Especially in a city like Melbourne, the temptation to spend it is great. An ice cream here, a smoothie there and before you know it, your money is gone.

Fortunately, Melbourne also offers a lot of free things for budget travellers, so you can easily spend a couple of days sightseeing without paying for any entrance tickets.…
